There is no longer a Custom Food button for creating foods that don’t exist in the KidneyDiet database. Why? You will get more comprehensive data by selecting a food that closely matches the food you are seeking even if it is not a perfect match because searching within our database yields more comprehensive, research-grade nutrient data than typing into a custom-created food from data you find on a package which often doesn’t have a complete list of nutrients.

If you absolutely must create a custom food, then you can still do so by selecting the FlyOut Menu on the top left corner of the screen where you see 3 horizontal bars. Look down this menu and select “Create Custom Food.” Please try to use this feature sparingly because using it is likely to underrepresent how much phosphorus and water are within the foods you create for yourself.
